Kia ora koutou, As part of the University’s commitment to maintaining a secure and supported digital environment, we are currently undertaking a major upgrade project to transition all University-managed devices from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Microsoft will end support for Windows 10 in October 2025, and to ensure continuity of support, security, and compatibility, we are asking all staff to upgrade any University device that is still running Windows 10. What you need to do:
Check your device: If you're still using Windows 10, please upgrade your device to Windows 11 as soon as possible. If you are already running windows 11 or any other OS, no action is required. To find out your operating system in the search bar, type “About your PC”. Open and scroll down to Windows specifications. If the Edition is showing Windows 10, you can follow the instructions below to upgrade.
How to upgrade: Follow the UoA Windows 11 Upgrade Guide https://uoaprod.service-now.com/sp?id=kb_article_view&sys_kb_id=92efbe6c93fd6a9010fffaba6aba105e&table=kb_knowledge&searchTerm=windows%2010%20 from our staff intranet for step-by-step instructions.
Need help? If your device does not meet the upgrade requirements or you encounter any issues, please submit a tickethttps://uoaprod.service-now.com/sp?id=sc_cat_item&sys_id=527e81e61bbb29d0388d2029b04bcbc4&table=sc_cat_item&searchTerm=os%20upgrade and select " Update operating system (OS) through the Staff Service Centre. Why this is important:
Support: Devices running unsupported systems will no longer receive updates, putting University data at risk.
Future-readiness: Staying current ensures compatibility with future applications, systems, and services. You can access upgrade information and self-service guides by visiting the Windows 11 Upgradehttps://www.auckland.ac.nz/en/intranet/stay-informed/improvement-projects-programmes/windows-11-upgrade.html page on the Staff Intranet homepage under ‘Projects & Initiatives’. We appreciate your cooperation in helping the University stay up to date and secure.
