Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) celebrates 21 years

Last week marked CIE’s 21st anniversary. This is a timely milestone as innovation and entrepreneurship, alongside commercialisation of research at the highest levels, are crucial to the future of higher education. Fittingly, these efforts were recognised with the University named top for the second consecutive year in a survey highlighting the most active start-up and spin-out companies in New Zealand and Australia. Teaching Excellence Awards 2024

I am pleased to congratulate our staff who have excelled in this year’s University of Auckland Teaching Excellence Awards. Please join me in recognising Dr Nasser Giacaman (Faculty of Engineering) and Dr Karen Huang (Faculty of Arts) for Sustained Excellence in Teaching. Dr Amar AI Auckaili (Faculty of Engineering) and Dr Moeata Keil (Faculty of Arts) for Early Career Excellence in Teaching. Emma Sadera (Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences) for Leadership in Teaching and Learning.

Celebrating Research Excellence Awards 2024

The 2024 Celebrating Research Excellence awards ceremony also took place last week. Held annually, it honours staff for their contributions to society, the environment and the economy. Once again, the standard was exceptionally high, filling us with confidence for the future and excitement about the positive impact they will have on the University and the wider community. Consultation: Draft Child Protection Policy

The draft of the updated Child Protection Policy is open for consultation until 5pm, Friday 8 November. It complies with section 19 [https://uoa.custhelp.com/rd?1=AvN8~wrdDv8S~xb~Gv_U~yIYlaoqdR37ufQRSz7~Pv~Y&2=41571] of the Children’s Act 2014 and prescribes procedures to follow if you suspect child abuse or have well-being concerns about a child while providing children’s services at the University.
