Simon Cunliffe to be Labour Media Director
Labour Leader David Cunliffe has appointed respected journalist and columnist Simon Cunliffe as his Media Director and Chief Press Secretary.
Mr Cunliffe comes to the role from Fairfax Media where he is Acting Chief of Staff of Fairfax Editorial Services, the company’s editorial production arm. He joined the company in 2012 from the Otago Daily Times where he was Deputy Editor and senior editorial writer. He is also a former Deputy Editor of The Press in Christchurch.
“I am delighted to announce Simon’s appointment. I have worked with him previously when in government. He will be a welcome member of my team and an outstanding media director.
“He has extensive experience in journalism here and overseas and was named Best Columnist at the 2012 Canon New Zealand Media Awards,” says David Cunliffe.
Simon Cunliffe will start as Media Director on January 13.
