Shearer congratulates recipients of 2010 Research Honours Awards

Labour spokesperson on Research, Science & Technology, David Shearer offers his congratulations to all the recipients of the 2010 Research Honours Awards.

“They are international leaders in their field working on projects that not only have the potential to create jobs and wealth for New Zealand but contribute to our knowledge across the world,” David Shearer said.

“It’s time like these when we celebrate the richness and depth of our talent. These people are our intellectual heroes.

“I hope the achievements of these Kiwis will encourage young students to look to science as an exciting career.

“Scientists are the cornerstone of our economic prosperity.

“I would also like to congratulate the Royal Society of New Zealand for their unwavering dedication in promoting and rewarding science researchers,” David Shearer said.
