Condolences for tsunami and earthquake victims

On behalf of The University of Auckland I convey to the people of Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga and Indonesia our deepest condolences for the tragic loss of life as a consequence of the disasters which befell their countries this week. Our prayers go out to all of those families who have lost loved ones, those injured or displaced by these tragic events.

Atas nama Universitas Auckland kami menyampaikan rasa duka cita yang sedalam-dalamnya kepada masyarakat Samoa, Samoa Amerika, Tonga, dan Indonesia, atas terjadinya malapetaka dahsyat minggu ini serta hilangnya begitu banyak jiwa akibat musibah tersebut. Doa kami menyertai semua keluarga yang kehilangan anggota tersayang, para korban luka cedera, dan para pengungsi yang kehilangan tempat tinggal oleh kejadian tragis itu.

We encourage staff and students with concerns about people affected by the tsunami to try and make direct contact with them. If necessary, telephone the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) on (04) 439 8000 (if calling from within New Zealand), +64 4 439 8000 (if calling from overseas).

If you are concerned for family members who may be in one of the northern islands in Tonga, Niuatoputapu, which is close to Samoa and was hit by the tsunami, you should do likewise.
