Conference of importance to agribusiness
Massey University economist Professor Allan Rae says the next Australian Agricultural Economics Society conference will have special relevance to New Zealand’s agribusiness sector. Professor Rae is president-elect of AAES and starts his term after the conference, to be held in Queenstown in February. Speakers will include some of the world’s leading experts in production and management, and policy development for agriculture, agribusiness, and international trade.

Academy award for management academic
Massey Management lecturer Dr Craig Prichard scooped the prize for the Best Symposium in Management Education and Development at the recent international Academy of Management Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. He shares his award with three research colleagues from the University of New Mexico and Charleston College in the United States, and the University of Leicester in the U.K. The academy conference is the world’s biggest on management research.

Nine point gain for Finance research
Massey University’s Finance programme has shot to 25th place in an internationally respected measure of research quality and relevance. The new ranking moves the programme up nine places in just four months and rates Massey the highest placed Australasian university for finance research. The rankings are based on the number of research papers downloaded from the Stanford University eLibrary, part of the Social Science Research Network.

Commerce expert to head business school
Professor Lawrence (Larry) C. Rose is the new head of New Zealand’s largest business school. Based at Massey University’s Auckland campus, American-born Professor Rose is a high-ranked finance researcher. He is currently studying foreign portfolios and risk management in APEC emerging equity markets.
