Visit by Veronique de Rugy, American Enterprise Institute

Veronique de Rugy, research fellow at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington DC, will visit New Zealand from 12 February as a guest of the New Zealand Business Roundtable.

During her visit she will speak in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch on topics including government spending and economic growth, the international tax environment, and the comparative performance of European Union economies and the United States.

French-born Veronique de Rugy specialises in tax and budget policy at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington. Previously she was a fiscal policy analyst at the Cato Institute from 2001-2004. From 1999 to 2001 she was a visiting scholar then a post-doctoral fellow in the department of economics at George Mason University.

Her writing has been published in the Wall Street Journal Europe, National Post and Washington Times. She is the co-author of Action ou Taxation, published in Switzerland in 1996, and has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, NPR, and the BBC. She is currently a board member and secretary of the Center for Freedom and Prosperity. She holds a PhD from the University of Paris-Sorbonne.
