Green MP To Visit Waikato, Bay Of Plenty

Green Party Co-Leader Rod Donald will visit Rotorua, Hamilton and Tauranga next week to speak at public meetings, attend the Tourism Industry Association Conference and meet with local mayors.

The Rotorua public meeting (Monday 20 August, 7.30pm Heitiki Gallery, Tryon Street) is an opportunity for local people to ask what difference the Greens are making in Parliament, and beyond.

Rod Donald, who is the Green Party's Tourism spokesperson will also be attending the Tourism Association Conference in Rotorua on Monday and Tuesday.

The Hamilton public meeting (Wednesday 22 August, 7pm L3 Lecture Theatre (Gate 1) Waikato University) is an opportunity for local people to hear about the Greens campaign for local body electoral reform and their 'Councils should buy local' campaign.

Mr Donald will meet the Rotorua and Hamilton mayors on Wednesday and the Mayor of Tauranga on Thursday.

Topics for discussion include the Green Party's soon to be launched "Councils Should Buy Local" campaign encouraging councils to put their money where their mouth is in regional development, the introduction of the single transferable vote election system at the 2004 local body elections and the campaign to save the Waikato Connection and the Geyserland and Kaimai Expresses.

Rod Donald will travel on the Geyserland Express from Rotorua to Hamilton on Wednesday and on the Kaimai Express from Hamilton to Tauranga on Thursday.
